Frequently Asked Questions

Once dried the application that the Mosquito Eliminators use is safe for children and pets. The drying time takes 30-60 minutes. The current treatment we are using is a synthetic form of pyrethrins called pyrethroids. Pyrethroids are the natural byproduct of the Chrysanthemum flower. The Pyrethroids are commonly found in household insecticides, pet shampoos and even lice shampoos. The products themselves are water-based and when mixed properly with water they do not harm plants. All products are EPA approved & each technician is state certified to apply.

The lifecycle of a mosquito is roughly 12-28 days and we’ve found that the barrier application is most effective when re-applied every 21 days. This typically stops the next generation of mosquitoes from breeding in your backyard.

As long as the barrier treatment is dry, the rain will not affect the treatment. In addition, we continually watch the weather and will not apply directly before a rain.

The initial treatment will take about a half hour because our technician will do an audit on your yard and notify you of any possible breeding ground areas. Each continued treatment will take 15-20 minutes.

For Polk and Dallas county homeowners the cost is $79 per treatment, but visit our Protect Your Family page to see if there are any specialty protection programs available.

You will need to be home during the initial treatment to go through our audit process, but after that, as long as the gate to your yard is unlocked and your pets are inside you will not need to be home during a treatment.

Each time we apply a treatment the technician will leave a note on your door giving you the time the treatment was done and you will receive a confirmation email shortly after.

Yes, these services need to be done 2-3 days in advance of the event. We typically set up contracts for special events and the price will vary depending on the size of the application. The chemical that we use is water-based and will not affect plant life. That being said our technicians will not directly apply a treatment to your garden. We’ve found that as long as your garden is weeded regularly and no standing water is frequent, there is little chance mosquitoes will be breeding in that area.

Typically a fogger will not leave any continued protection to a neighborhood. The primary mode of a fogger is to immediately kill any insect it comes in contact with. Foggers normally don’t reach the back yard in most neighborhoods and are not the end all be all fix to mosquito control.
